Preparing for the English Hickory Open

Spent the last several days preparing for the a trip to the UK. I'm heading across the pond for the English Hickory Championship with my good friend Scott McAllister. This year "the English" as it is affectionately known, will be held at Rye Golf Club which is toney private club in the Southeast of England. It is the first time I'm headed there, but my previous experience in Scotland will guide my packing. Key: assume rain. So that translates to rain gear, gloves and some leather conditioner for the shoes and the leather parts of the golf bag. Am also toting a jigger, which is a low lofted club suitable for the run-it-up shots so prevalent in UK links-style golf.

Things I'm stressing a bit over = how I'll handle Internet access while I'm in the UK. Hoping to visit a Vodaphone shop in Terminal 5 of Heathrow to see if I can put a SIM card in my MIFI device, and use this serve internet access to me & Scotty. Assuming I can get this working, I can skip paying the exhorbitant Verizon oversaes rates that would be charged to my iPhone. Other potential stress point: we've each got hard cased golf travel bags, and we're worried that these won't fit in our mid-sized rental car. We'll have to see.
